The Mission Song by John Le Carre

A good story, with a well-meaning but somewhat naive protagonist trying his best in a very bad situation in the East Congo.

    The Mission Song was a great disappoinment.
    You see. It is not a novel. It is a long story.
    It would have been an excellent story had its size
    been a third of what it is.
